This little restaurant had some of the best prices I've seen, which had me suspicious from the start. Several of their offerings had the choice of "large" or small," which is probably what I liked most about this place. I ordered the chicken and ribs with a baked potato and "vegetables." The ribs have to be the worst I have ever paid for, but the piece of chicken was amazing. The baked potato was great, but the vegetables were canned peas and over cooked carrots; I like these things, but I found it a little surprising for a restaurant offering. My husband ordered the seafood platter and the fish was undercooked (NOT raw), the scallops were passable, and the clam strips (which were heavily battered and fried) were slightly overdone. The service was good, the prices were good, but there is zero ambiance.Next time we will wait for Acropole Pizza to open, that's why we stopped in New Glasgow.
It's a busy place. The food is well priced and a great all day breakfast. Wings for $3.80! Also, the best coconut cream pie I have ever had. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work.
I had a poutine with chicken gravy and that was not bad. Our daughter had the fried fish and had mash potatoes instead of fries. Boxed instant potatoes. A restaurant with instant potatoes. I couldn't believe it. The fish was pretty good. BOXED INSTANT POTATOES!?!?!!?
Definitely will not go back. The only good part of our breakfast was the toast. The eggs were basically styrofoam, the hash browns were plain frozen potatoes, the sausages sat in a puddle of grease on the plate. My meal came with pancakes, at the very end.. 10 minutes after you've finished your meal. My wife has some dietary restrictions due to allergies and there was next to nothing she could eat (that part isn't so much their fault). They brought her food she couldn't eat (which we had already asked them about), and we had to remind them that we needed forks, condiments etc. It was busy, but it's a small place and there were 5 or 6 servers on staff.
This restaurant should be on everyones must eat here list. Small and homey. They have great food at amazing prices. You really need to visit here. The wait staff are friendly and efficient unless you order milk with the meal. They forget my milk 9 out of 10 times but that is minor. My wife and I eat here at least once a week. The pork chop dinner is to die for and the Eastside breakfast is a belly buster. This is my favorite place to eat.
